In the past, I’ve usually met up with family in Lansing for an annual apple orchard trip, but this year we’re going to visit a Kalamazoo area farm. In looking for a good place to go, I’ve come across the following two:
*VerHage Orchards. There are some cool activities here, including a zip line, petting zoo, wagon rides, apple train, and a cider mill demonstration. No U-Pick this year due to spring crop damage!
The basics:
VerHage Orchards
8619 West ML Avenue, Kalamazoo 49009
Open 9-7 September through November
Zip line and pony rides $5 each
Apple train, hayride and jumping pumpkin: $2 each
*Gull Meadow Farms. This looks like a great place if your primary concern is family fun activities. They have a lot of great attractions for the kids (giant bouncing pad, slide, corn maze, etc.), as well as a U-Pick option.
The basics:
Gull Meadow Farms
8544 Gull Road, Richland
Open M-F from 9-7, Saturday from 9-6 and Sunday from 10-5
*Activities open on Sat at 10, Sun at 11, and from 4-7 on weekdays
Wagon rides- $1
Corn maze- $5
Pumpkin Lane activities- $6/kids, $4/adults
(Or, you can buy a wristband that allows you to do everything for $7.50)
Keep an eye out for coupons- there’s a coupon link on the page, but nothing is posted there currently.
What’s your favorite orchard in the area??
